2016 is shaping up to be a great year for movies. Some of our favorite franchises will be back on the big screen, and some quirky dramas are slated that already have us thinking about next year’s Oscars (even though this year’s ceremony hasn’t taken place yet).

Here are some of the movies that we can’t wait to see this year:

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Two of the biggest superheroes in comic books or film will finally face off on the big screen in a fight that is already the stuff of comic legend. The movie will be a follow-up to “Man of Steel” and it will be the introduction of Ben Affleck as the new Dark Knight. (Other movies will follow with Affleck in the suit.) Besides the main event between these two juggernauts, this movie also introduces Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and gives us our first Wonder Woman on the big screen. We can’t wait for March 25 to get here!

The Jungle Book
Watch “The Jungle Book” come to life with this live-action version. Big names like Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray lend voice to the computer generated animals. While it might seem hard to pull off a live-action version of a beloved animated classic, the trailer for this movie promises some thrilling action.

Head out to see this more grown-up version of the classic tale on April 15.

Captain America: Civil War
Though Captain America is given title billing in this movie, it is actually about all of the Avengers. The superhero team is divided, and they fall into rank behind Captain America and Iron Man. Thanks to their in-fighting, the superheroes become subject to government regulation that tries to make them more accountable for their actions. Their fight then becomes one against society. Look for it on May 6.

Independence Day: Resurgence
“Independence Day” reminds us of The Golden Age of Hollywood summer blockbusters, and we are so excited at the thought that this sequel can bring back a bit of that magic. Hollywood hunk Liam Hemsworth will join the team, which has to defend the planet against a second wave of aliens who are arriving 20 years after the original invaders sent out their distress signal. This time, we’ve got advanced technology learned from the alien ships and weapons we captured.

The movie is set to be released on June 24.

Suicide Squad
“Suicide Squad” may be the most highly anticipated movie of the year. Not only will it show off a new Joker played by Jared Leto, but it will also introduce popular characters like Harley Quinn and Deadshot, played by Margot Robbie and Will Smith respectively. Watch the bad guys become the good guys when they are sent out on a dangerous mission to try to win their clemency. It’s basically a comic book version of The Expendables.

Look for this one on Aug. 5.
